Molds in Homes: Different Types

Mold in homes can be of various types and can cause various health problems. These problems depend on the type of mold found in the home and can be removed by los angeles mold remediation. Stachybotrys chartarum

This is also known as black mold. This is toxic in nature and can cause serious health problems. Toxicity is due to the release of toxic mycotoxins. Its odor is musty and it grows in moist and damp places.

Serpula lacrymans

It is yellow in color and its feed is wood.


It also releases the toxic mycotoxins that are serious threat for the human health and can cause allergenic reactions.


This type of mold grows where there is excessive water. So the homes hit by the water damage and floods are best for their growth.


These are actually salt deposits not molds. People confuse it with the white mold.

Mold is usually formed by the excess moisture and water damage. Mold is allergenic whether it is alive or dead. Sometimes it can also be toxic. Mold can be cleaned up by variety of ways. Usually it depends upon the effected item or the material .here we would discuss some of them through which you can get rid of the mold.

1st Method :Wet Vacuum

Special vacuum cleaners that are made to collect the water are known as wet vacuums. If the water is accumulated on the hard surfaces then wet vacuums can easily drain and collect the water. They are used to minimize the effects of water damage. It can be used on wet carpets and floors. It is not recommended to use wet vacuum on porous materials e.g. Gypsum board. After the usage it should be thoroughly cleaned in order to get rid of the mold spores sticked to tanks and hoses of vacuum.

2nd Method :D amp Wipe

From hard and non porous surfaces mold removal is easy. This can be done by scrubbing through water or a mixture of water and detergent. After this the surface must be dried as soon as possible. In this way re-growth of mold can be prevented.
